The early-access list

Joining the list is free. It means we'll email you about Afterword's early access and launch. You can leave at any time by replying "unsubscribe" to any email.

The 25 free licenses

The first 25 people to sign up get a free lifetime license when early access opens. It never needs a subscription. We'll send the license to the email address you signed up with. One license per person: we may skip signups that look like duplicates or fake addresses, and the next person in line moves up. Licenses are personal and can't be sold or exchanged for money.

Founding lifetime license

A founding lifetime license is a one-time payment. It covers one person on up to 3 of their Macs, includes every update to Afterword, and never renews. Each one comes with a numbered founding card. If Afterword doesn't work for you, ask within 14 days of paying and we'll refund the full amount.

Founding members and refunds

Once the 25 free licenses are claimed, you can become a founding member for $4 a month or $29 a year. That price is locked for as long as you stay subscribed, even after the regular price becomes $6 a month or $48 a year at launch. Payment is handled by Dodo Payments or Stripe, so we never see your card details. When you pay through Dodo Payments, Dodo is the merchant of record: it is the seller on your receipt and handles sales tax for your country.

A monthly membership works on one Mac at a time and a yearly one on up to three. To move to another Mac, open Afterword's Settings on the old one and choose Deactivate this Mac. The 50 founding licenses aren't limited to a number of Macs.

Both plans start with 7 days free. Your first payment is taken when the free days end, and then every month or every year until you cancel. Cancel during the free days and you're never charged. The 7 days start when you sign up. Either way, you'll have at least 3 full days with the released app before your first charge; if launch is later than that, we extend your free days to match.

You can cancel any time by replying to your receipt or to any email from us. Cancelling stops future charges.

Until Afterword launches, you can get a full refund of everything you've paid, for any reason. Ask the same way; you don't need to explain. We refund the whole amount to the card or account you paid with. Banks usually take 5 to 10 business days to show it.

If we decide not to release Afterword, we'll cancel every founding membership and refund every payment in full without you having to ask.

In development

Afterword is new, and it keeps changing as we learn what people need. Features and requirements may change between versions; updates are free for as long as your membership or license is active. Anything paid for a founding membership before launch can be refunded in full, and after launch, if Afterword doesn't work for you within 14 days of a payment, ask and we'll refund that payment.

The site is provided as it is. Please don't misuse the signup form, for example by submitting addresses that aren't yours.
